Just a 10-minute drive in the car from Ivy House you can experience, first hand, what it’s like to be in Africa, for the day. (Well, sort of.) Africa Live is a great attraction nearby for couples, families and groups of friends. It’s a recreation of Africa – give or take a few degrees Celsius – set over hundreds of acres of stunning Suffolk countryside.

There’s over 80 species from the African continent and at the park you’ll find an impressive range of exotic birds, domestic buffalo, aardvark, addax, African lion, lemur, cape hunting dog, zebras, king colobus monkeys, cheetah, giraffe, mongoose and rhinos. As well as the chance to see a wide range of British wildlife too.

From the ‘Lookout Lodge’ you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the lions and visit ‘Lemur Encounters’, where you can actually walk through the lemurs’ enclosure. There are also regular talks so that you can find out more about the animals as well as ‘Bird of Prey’ displays.

There’s a free ‘Safari Roadtrain’ for taking a journey around the park as well as a ‘Discovery Centre’ where you can meet some of the park’s smaller residents at the animal encounter drop-ins. For smaller children there are also some great outdoor adventure play areas, a restaurant, free car parking and a gift shop.
